Los Altos drivers can contact Bay City Automotive in Milpitas to arrange a discussion about repair or maintenance. If a new sound or vibration has prompted the call, describe it in your own words. You do not need a diagnosis before asking about an appointment.
Auto repair for Los Altos drivers
A sound you first noticed around downtown Los Altos may be harder to hear on El Camino Real. Tell the shop whether it happens at low speeds, over a change in road surface or while turning into a parking space. Mention only conditions you have already observed; there is no need to recreate the problem.
Bring useful details about noises and vibration
Note whether the sound occurs while starting, accelerating, braking, turning or travelling over uneven surfaces. Explain whether the vehicle must warm up first and whether the noise has changed since you first noticed it. Those circumstances are often easier to discuss than trying to imitate the sound alone.
For a vibration, say where you feel it and whether it changes with speed or braking. Mention recent work and any previous inspection of the same concern. Ask what the shop needs to investigate and how it will explain the results before recommending work.
Planning a visit from Los Altos
Plan your appointment around a visit to Milpitas, rather than a Los Altos location. Confirm the address and drop-off time, and ask about transport and collection arrangements. If you are concerned that the vehicle is unsafe, discuss that before attempting the journey.
Questions to ask before your appointment
- What details should I record about the noise or vibration?
- Is an inspection or diagnosis needed before quoting a repair?
- What charges should I expect for that investigation?
- How will the findings be explained?
- When should I expect a collection update?
